This Prayer Cross is in the local church, St.Margerets, West Hoathly in West Sussex. The Vicar commissioned the piece and it was created from locally sourced Silver Birch and twisted Birch.
It is mounted on an old water hydrant, found in the Ashdown Forest, and an old disc plate from a car.
The weight at the base was necessary so that the Cross would keep its balance when prayers were pinned to it.
It is a piece that I very much enjoyed creating and seeing it being used for a really valuable purpose is rewarding.
People, both local parishers and visitors pin their written prayers to the Cross.
